Twin State Humane Society
Twin State Humane Society was formed in 2004 by a concerned and caring group of people who saw a need to service a population who had no voice.
TWIN STATE HUMANE SOCIETY ~ MISSION STATEMENT:
Twin State Humane Society, is dedicated to providing humane care and shelter for abandoned, abused and unwanted animals on both sides of the Connecticut River of New Hampshire and Vermont.
- To increase public awareness to the impact and implications of dog and cat
overpopulation;
- To decreasing pet over population through its spay and neuter program and
- To educate people of all ages about the responsibilities of pet ownership.
To accomplish the Mission, TSHS has several ongoing programs:
- Assistance in the placement of stray or unwanted animals; providing of medical
treatment for stray and abused animals;
- Sponsor obedience classes for behavior management of pets;
- Promotion of spay-neuter and rabies clinics;
- Development of working relationships with local veterinarians;
- Support of foster care where appropriate.
If practical, future plans may include building a shelter to house homeless animals. This would be a low-kill facility; if an animal is deemed unadoptable owing to behavioral or medical reasons, then euthanasia could be employed as a last resort.
