Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis

Envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis believes in a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis was founded in 1986 by a small group of volunteers who saw a desperate need for more affordable housing in their community. They handled every detail, from accepting initial homebuyer applications and mortgage processing to construction and soliciting donations. In 1988, they completed the affiliate’s first two homes.

Thirty years later, Habitat Saint Louis has built upon this strong foundation to create a flourishing organization. We have a paid staff of more than 40 people who work at the construction site, at our administrative offices and in our ReStore retail facilities. Each year, more than 3,500 volunteers share the gift of their time on the build site, in the ReStore, and on committees filling more than 11,000 volunteer opportunities. Habitat Saint Louis is a good steward of the resources entrusted to us. We are proud that 86 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to program expenses, with a mere 14 cents going to administrative costs.

Most importantly, Habitat Saint Louis has built and rehabbed almost 400 affordable, efficient homes throughout Saint Louis City and County which provide a safe and permanent home for more than 1,500 individuals.

We look forward to building on this legacy of hope to create an even stronger Saint Louis community by continuing to create affordable housing for hardworking people who simply need the opportunity to build a better future for themselves.
