He also loves his luxury 🚘 Rolls-Royce 🚘of exercise balls — it takes him a few minutes to get int the groove, but once he is it’s full steam ahead! If you’ve ever wanted to add an easy-going, chill pet to your life, this is the boy for you!

🐱💫🌙The Brightest Stars Do Come Out At Night!🌙💫🐱

Introducing Midnight and Galaxy Nova: two of our sweet, young, silky black kittens. These two babies are as dark as the night sky during a New Moon, but their personalities will outshine any star in that sky! Midnight is the talker of the two, for sure — he’s ready to tell you what’s on his mind (especially when what’s on his mind is demanding more snuggles). Galaxy Nova is the more soft-spoken of the two, but her purr could sooth the most hardened of souls. As you can see, together these two are quite the power couple — but we do think that they’d both be fine on their own in a single cat where they can be the apple of your eye, or in a home with a new fur-sibling to get up to shenanigans with!

To poorly paraphrase wise wizard: happiness can certainly be found in the darkest of cats! Let these sweet babies be the light in the lantern that will guide your way! 🐱🌟

When adopting a puppy, please remember that they are full of energy, are driven by curiosity, and have little to no manners yet. It’s up to you and your family to provide them the positive leadership, training, management, and exercise that they need to learn how to be behave — and to be happy!

🌟 Happy First of the Month 🌟

Sweet Lady is here to remind you that it’s the first of the month and that means it’s time to give your pets their heartworm prevention medications!

About 10% of the dogs that enter our shelter, including Sweet Lady, test positive for heartworm disease. This is a preventable, life-threatening illness that is spread by mosquitos and has devastating effects. It can be costly to treat and, while normally effective, that treatment can be difficult for the pup to undergo.

Keep your pet healthy by making sure he or she is on a regular heartworm preventative medication!

Sweet Lady says “woof woof arf ruff arf arf woof!” which were pretty translates to “thank you for adopting, loving, and protecting pets like me!”

Pictured below is one of our residents, Choctaw, who participated in the Vet School’s Halloween 5K yesterday! This run, sponsored by @hillspet , supported MSU Vet School’s Homeward Bound program! This program, much like the #OCHSExpress, helps move dogs from MS to other regions of the country to help them find safe, happy, furrever homes! We’re so happy to offer our support such a wonderful program and thankful that some of our pups were able to get out of the shelter and stretch their legs for such a good cause!

🎃🐱Meet B.B, Ash, and Yoda! 🐱🎃

Have you always wanted a kitten that was perfectly adjusted to home life, but still full of the sweet and silly kitten antics we all love so much? Check out Bb, Ash, and Yoda — three kittens currently in our foster program! They are such loving and cuddly kittens who their foster mom describes as absolutely perfect! Yoda loves to snuggle up as close as possible, BB is a pure lap cat, and Ash loves to sit on your shoulder and pretend she’s a parrot! You can’t go wrong with any of these silky and silly lovebugs!

Please note the image says Ash is 2.5 months old, but she’s grown up a little! Ash is now 4 months old and ready for her furrever homes!

Are you ready to add some snuggles and kitten sweetness into your daily life? The perfect home for these sweet babies is one where they’ll have plenty of time to spend cuddled up with you! They’d also love to have a home with plenty of sun spots to play in! These darling babies would do amazing going off to their new homes by themselves (with other animals or the only pet), but they’d also love to head home with a sibling (or two!).

👑🐾#FurreverHome🐾👑

When we say fostering saves lives, we totally mean it from the bottom of our heart! Sweet Brownie came to us in August of 2020 in poor shape (weighing only 33lbs!) and in need of a lot of TLC to help him come out of his shell and adjust to the life of a spoiled, pampered pup! Thanks to his foster Katie (and a few other amazing fosters before her), Brownie has developed into an amazing, healthy boy and, today, Brownie found his furrever home! This was truly a match worth waiting for — Brownie and Aaron were truly meant to be! We cannot wait to see how this handsome guy continues to grow and the adventures these two will share!

🎃🐶Meet Treat! 🐶🎃

It’s almost Halloween and you know what that means! It’s time to Trick or TREAT! And boy do we have the Treat for you — one in the shape of a rambunctious and bouncy one-year-old Shepherd Mix! Treat is a sweet boy who hasn’t received proper training in his short life, so he really doesn’t know how big he actually is. He’s bouncy and jumpy — in a “way too excited to see anyone and anything” sort of way. This means that his furrever family will need to be committed to his training — which we imagine will be pretty easy because this is one SMART boy — and providing him with ample walks, runs, treat puzzles, and more to keep his energy and curious brain occupied!

Treat is also incredibly sweet and loving — all of his excitement and energy comes from just wanting to LOVE you as much as he possibly can. Seriously — he gives the best, full sized, all encompassing hugs of any dog we’ve ever met. He’s a lover for sure (just watch out on Halloween — this boy also loves to steal masks in the midst of one of those hugs!). It’s honestly 99% treats, and 1% hilarious tricks with our Treat!
