CMS PBL Animal Rescue Center

A small center for the care and rescue of small animals, exotics, reptiles, and insects. The center is run by the CMS Project Based Learning Academy.

The CMS PBL Academy Animal Shelter has evolved over time to meet the needs of the CMS learning community. Local shelters are available to take in cats and dogs, but they do not accept reptiles, pocket pets, or exotic animals. When a CMS family could no longer keep a pet, students would often find their way to Mrs. Kamradt's room to ask if she could take the animal into her classroom.
Currently, we are caring for 18 different species of animals. As a result, the Shelter gives us the opportunity to study a wide array of animal physical and behavioral characteristics. In addition, we also learn about important scientific principles such as food web. Finally, caring for the animals helps us become more caring people.
We hope you will stop by often to see what animals we have up for adoption and our stories about our classroom companions.
