Our mission is to rescue and re-home off-­the­-track-thoroughbreds. We believe that education and outreach will improve the lives of those in our community and the lives of the equine athletes we rescue.

Every year, on the the first Saturday in May, the Kentucky Derby is ran. This is the most popular thoroughbred horse race in the world. You have probably watched the race at least once and chances are you have been to a local Kentucky Derby party on the day of the race.

It's a lot of fun!

While experiencing all the fun and hoopla of thoroughbred horse racing have you ever given a thought to what happens to the horses after their racing careers are over?

Don't feel bad, most people don't, this is the problem.

HART picks up when the thoroughbreds no longer can race (may be due to injury, age, or just needed an upgrade). The unfortunate fate for many of these horses is that they are neglected or often starved. This is not always on purpose, it could be from a family that loves their horse, but has a hard time recognizing that they cannot care for the horse the way he/she needs.

We step in and rehabilitate these horses, retrain them and help get them to an adoptable state so they can find their forever home.
