Chauncey The Rescued Horse

Chaunsey is a Belgian Draft Horse rescued from a kill pen in Louisana. He was bound for a slaughter house in Mexico when we purchased his freedom Aug 2015

Our first mission was to save Chauncey and his little friend (Tiny Dancer). DONE!
Our mission now is to continue medical treatment to get Chauncey healed and healthy again. Once he is healed and well our goal is to use him and some other horses for equine therapy to help people with emotional and or physical challenges. There is nothing like the smell of a horse that brings a soul peace!

Chauncey started as a work horse for an Amish man in Pennsylvania. He was badly injured but was never treated or given rest; when he could no longer work through his injuries and health complications he was taken to the New Holland Horse Auction (aka: The Kill sale). He was sold to a kill buyer for another kill pen in Bastrop, Louisiana only 4 to 5 days later. He was given only 5 days for purchase out of the kill circuit, before he would be shipped to a slaughterhouse in Mexico and processed for meat in other countries. He was seen and saved by Kimberly Virostek who had him moved to War Horse Keep in Salem, Alabama. He now lives with the LeFeat family where he is being cared for and treated for his injuries previously sustained in his past life. Chauncey is a sweet gentle giant, and finally getting the life he deserves.
