The state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, AHF encourages & promotes appreciation of humanities through programs, events, & grants.

Alabama Humanities Foundation fosters learning, understanding and appreciation of our people, communities and cultures.

AHF encourages and promotes appreciation of literature, history, law, philosophy and the arts through programs, events and grants to help others discover and share the meanings of life found through the humanities.

AHF is governed by a 25-member board of directors, six of which are appointed by the governor. Operations are conducted by a full-time staff of six headquartered in Birmingham.
