Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark
We are a private, managed-admission animal shelter serving the tri-state area for over 50 years & are funded by donations & municipal contracts.
At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark, we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need.
This passion is the Mission of our service and the legacy that was left to us by our founder Robert Kleinstuber. Robert began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff.
His hard work paved the way for the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark. This spirit is what drives us each day to do the best we can for the good of all animals.
We currently contract with 10 local municipalities as their Animal Control sheltering services. Our coverage handles a good portion of western Orange County and a couple of towns in Sullivan County. Persons finding stray animals should contact their town or city animal control officer. We do not ship animals up from the south; we focus on serving the needs of animals that are right here within our community. We work with pet owners who must surrender their pets; those needing assistance should contact the shelter to schedule a time when we can best accommodate your pet.

We have 2 INCREDIBLY sweet & gentle Male #Chihuahuas a 3 year old (9lb) black smooth coat “Ramsey.” And Teddy, a 5 year old (7lb)tri color long coated boy.
Teddy is very soft & sensitive so he would do best in an adult only home preferably with someone who is retired or works from home.
Ramsey is a bit bigger and more gregarious so he would be ok in a home with older children and another dog or cats.

These 3 gorgeous boys were rescued from a terrible living environment where they were kept locked in a shed because the owner didn’t have “any way to keep them on the property.”🙄 They are all 1 year young boys, neutered & fully health tested, ready to go. From left to right we have Bolo, Gordy & Tanner... #BorderCollie x #Heeler crosses. ALL sweet and gentle...good with other dogs, kids and even cats!
