Bay Area Humane Society - Found Pets

A listing of some of the stray cats, dogs, and other small animals that the Bay Area Humane Society takes in from the Brown County, WI area and beyond.

Our mission is to offer the best possible care and future for companion animals in our community through leadership, placement, and outreach.

Lost & Found Pets

Pets stray from home for many reasons, most of them outside of your control. The most important thing you can do is have your pet microchipped and wearing an ID tag with your contact information. The Bay Area Humane Society offers microchipping services and has an ID tag engraver available to ensure your pet is properly tagged.

If you find a lost pet:

We hope we can reunite every lost pet with their family quickly and easily! Different municipalities have different contracts for handing stray animals. The Bay Area Humane Society contracts with municipalities surrounding Green Bay (ie: Allouez, De Pere, Howard, Suamico, Humbolt, etc). If you find a lost pet in these areas, please bring them to the Humane Society during our open hours of 12-7pm Monday through Friday and 12-5pm Saturdays. For after hours drop-off, please call your local non-emergency police department. According to Wisconsin State Statutes 173.19, if you find a pet and make reasonable effort to find the owner (contacting BAHS to file a report, found posters, classified ads, etc.), and an owner does not reclaim the pet within 7 days of being found, the pet then belongs to the person who is holding the pet.

If you find a lost pet within the City of Green Bay city limits or believe your lost pet may have strayed into the City of Green Bay, please contact Packerland Veterinary Center at 920-498-2808 or www.packerlandvet.com/lostPetDatabase/.

If you lost your pet:

If you've lost your pet, you can file a report with our Intake Department (920.469.3110 x251) so that we can compare the pets in our care with your description and notify you if we find a possible match. We do, however, recommend that you visit our shelter in person as often as possible to look for yourself, as you know your pet best and your description may vary from ours. We hold stray pets for the state-mandated 7 day stray hold. If no owner comes forward after the stray hold is complete, the pet is evaluated for health and behavior prior to being placed up for adoption.
