The Great Dane Sanctuary

The dream of many Dane lovers is to have a place where the old, ill and aggressive Danes can live out their lives with love and dignity.

The Great Dane Sanctuary is a much needed project, not only due to poor economic times, but by the very special needs of Great Danes as a breed. Medical costs for a Dane can be many times the amount needed to treat the same disease in a 50# dog. When a Great Dane gets old and cannot walk, it's not so easy to just lift them up and take them outside. Then there are the dogs who have reacted in ways that prevent them from ever being adopted. Their behavior may not have even been there fault, but their death sentence looms over their heads nonetheless. All of our dogs are considered un-adoptable for a variety of reasons and up until now their only option was euthanasia.

A sanctuary is not a rescue. We do not adopt out any dogs, but rather keep them safe, secure and as healthy as we can on the Dane Farm for the full length of their lives. Thus, we have no revenue from which to draw for not only food, medicines and upkeep, but the huge initial investment to get The Farm ready for use.

We'd like to thank Raws for Paws, www.rawsforpaws.com, for their much appreciated generosity in the form of providing food for all Great Danes at The Dane Farm.

We have a Zazzle shop where many items are available bearing our beautiful logo, created especially for us by the renowned animal artist, Jared Williams.
