By supporting the FFCAS, you help us in our mission to:
• Provide additional resources and support to our local animal shelter.
• Promote the adoption of homeless dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and reptiles right here in Fairfax County.
• Educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.

We raise money to directly support programs benefiting animals at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Here are just a few of the many programs we support:

• We fund professional veterinary care for shelter animals suffering from illness, injury or abuse. This includes many life-saving surgeries. In addition, procedures to improve the adoptability of shelter animals, such as removal of growths, correction of eye problems, grooming and dental care are provided.

• Each adopted dog and cat go home from the shelter with a collar and personalized I.D. tag through funding we provide.

• We fund pilot projects such as the cat micro chip program, through which all cats adopted from the shelter are micro chipped.

• We support the shelter and community by providing funds for low cost spay and neuter surgeries for the feral cat TNR program.

• Through the Pet Haven Program, we support pet victims in domestic abuse situations by funding care for them when they can’t be housed at their home.

• We fund behavioral intervention to increase the adoptability of shelter pets.

• We provide other community outreach services, such as educational materials to increase public awareness of animal shelter and animal welfare issues, and events to promote the shelter's partnership with local animal rescue groups, including special adoption events.

• We provide other support to the shelter:
-Through our Shelter Pet Sponsorship program, local businesses and individuals can sponsor the shelter's neediest pets by paying a portion of their adoption fee, which lowers it to only $25, or donating a gift certificate for the animal's adopter. Sponsors agree to advocate for their animals on social media, increasing their chances for adoption.
- We purchase supplies and equipment, including toys, bedding, harnesses and other items.
