Jet's Dog Rescue

We are a new organisation, run by volunteers who's priority, is to re-home stray dogs from the local pound.

We try to prevent dogs being put to sleep at the end of the 7 days and we work closely with the pound and take out as many dogs as we can to put into foster care, to prepare for adoption. In some cases we take dogs that are 24 hours or less away from being destroyed. But it's not the fault of the Local Council's or the Pound staff who have to care for the dogs and call the vets in to give the dogs their final injections. It's the fault of the people in our society.
We are supposed to be a nation of dog lovers yet these results are shocking. Why do we have so many strays?
Status Dogs - mainly Staffies but also now Toy (handbag) dogs, Over-breeding - done just for the money and sell the dogs to anyone, High vet bills - can't afford to pay for their dogs vetinary care, no pet insurance, Puppies - unwanted presents, Abandoned, Cruelty cases

The 2012 annual Stray Dogs Survey revealed that a shocking 325 stray dogs were picked up daily by Local Authorities across the UK in the last 12 months.
Around 7,000 dogs are euthanised every year in the UK after their 7 days in the pound is completed. Sadly, they are discarded like a waste product of our society.
