Wonders of the Wild Animal Sanctuary

Wonders of the Wild Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as the care of domestic and exotic animals rescued from desperate situations.
Each year our team of volunteers successfully releases as many as 100 species of native wildlife, including mammals, songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, reptiles and amphibians. If we find a more appropriate housing situation for that animal then they are placed in another facility that specializes in that particular species.
Educational outreach is an important part of who we are. We strive to teach others about the importance of respecting wildlife, preserving habitats, and strengthening our Southwestern ecosystem.
As a non-profit healthcare provider for nature’s wonders, we are funded by our volunteers and by generous individuals such as yourself. If you would like to contribute to our cause, we thank you whole-heartedly. The wildlife thanks you as well.

Wonders of the Wild Animal Sanctuary is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as the care of domestic and exotic animals rescued from desperate situations.

Rehabilitation care includes the establishing of appropriate housing habitats, diets, and pre-release preparations, as well as catering to the medical needs of each individual animal. Daily activities include feeding, cleaning, and administering medical care. Other ongoing activities consist of animal intake and evaluation, habitat set up, transporting animals to or from other facilities, picking up animals from the general public, physical therapy, euthanasia, disposal of deceased animals, and the release of a rehabilitated animal. Phone activity includes working out arrangements for receiving or placing an animal, or giving immediate care advice.

Each year we successfully release as many as 100 species of native wildlife, including mammals, songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, reptiles and amphibians. If we find a more appropriate housing situation for an animal, they are placed in that facility specializing in that particular species. In cases of domestic rescues, we endeavor to place that animal in a good, loving home.

Our services are primarily requested by local veterinary clinics, feed stores, the Humane Society, Arizona Game and Fish (AG&F), Gila County Animal Control, wildlife rehabilitators and organizations in other counties, and by word of mouth. Animals typically come to us from neighboring communities, but have traveled as much as three hours to come here.

Educational outreach is an important element of what we do and who we are. We strive to teach others about the importance of respecting wildlife, preserving habitats and strengthening our Southwestern ecosystem. Mitzi Brabb, current founder and director of Wonders of the Wild Animal Sanctuary, is active in educational outreach and is dedicated to the preservation of native and endangered species. She has taught classes on wildlife care to small groups in schools and at environmental and animal welfare events. She has also lectured in a large classroom-style setting at an AG&F symposium.
