We’ve remained busy and have had a lot of inquiries regarding the animals of the Bahamas and others affected. Historic storms such as Dorian are not one-dimensional in the damage they cause and it’s important to look at collateral implications. We will try to keep it simple and succinct. The Bahamas are an International destination and the U.S. has animal import laws that are not the same as the US territories- so vaccines and timing are required. Assessment and Stabilization of the local situation is the first step - be it people or animals.
Dorian is not done with us and many animals need to move or have moved from east coast shelters to inland or northern destinations. We are currently participating in that process. The recovery timeline takes place for months- not weeks. We are in it for the long haul -as we have proven with our continued efforts in the Caribbean- and have our supplies from our storage unit available to Florida agencies in support of the Bahamas as well as our transportation assets when they are needed.
We are experienced in this work. We know what is legit assistance and what is not. We know where to put money and resources and sometimes it is in the hands of other organizations that are busy doing the hands on stuff and are overwhelmed with the day to day emergent operations. That being said if you want to specifically donate to the cause of helping the animals in the path or have been in the path of Hurricane Dorian we will accept dedicated donations to that cause through the weekend. Then we will show you where your money goes with photos.
Again, we’ve been there, done this successfully. If you want to make a difference, we will ensure that happens. Donate wisely, regardless of where you choose to donate.
Gunner is a 1 year old neutered Pitbull that was adopted from a local shelter about 2 months ago. Gunner's family have discovered he is not a good fit for their home. He recently has shown aggression toward the children in the home (ages 9 and under). Gunner's current owner has contacted trainer's only to find it is out of their price range. The shelter said they will take Gunner back, however he will be put to sleep due to his aggression. His current family wants to avoid this- saying he's very sweet and still a pup, but they also need to separate him from their children. He has not been tested around other animals enough to know how he is with them.

We have a firebug🔥. After trying to get her or it away and failing miserably, I just gave up and am watching her very closely as she tries to figure out what it is. She has approached it from every angle but decided this had the best view.
Introducing “Mavis”! She is 2.5 months old, gets along great with cats and dogs. She is very playful. Can be a little timid until she gets to know you then she has the loudest purr and the sweetest meow. Mavis has been spayed, vaccinated (age appropriate), tested negative for FeLv/FIV, microchipped, wormed and received flea prevention. Go to CCLAR.com and fill out an application for Mavis! Private message if interested.
Happy Labor Day! 🥳 I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend.
On September 2, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor celebrates and honors the greatest workers in the world, American workers. While I know it is a U.S. holiday I believe that everyone that works around the world, whether at home, in an office or outside, deserves a thank you. For whatever your job is, everyone and all jobs are what makes the world go round and we all need each other in some way to survive.
This Labor Day I am doing my job, taken care of my home, kid, of course the animals and preparing the yard for just in case Dorian. As with the begining of every month today is also empty, clean and sanitize the litter boxes, with so many it is a several hours job and A LOT of litter but there is always time to take a break for anyone that would like to come meet the babies.
Psst.... Don't forget for every $10 you donate you are entered into our drawing to win a $30 Amazon gift card, we are only $5 away from being at 10% of our goal. See top pinned post on our Facebook page for more info.
Thankful that Penelope will never have to know what it’s like to live outside on a chain without shelter wondering when she’ll get her next proper meal. Glad that we stepped up in time so that she didn’t have to have 10 puppies out in the open and worry on how she’ll have to feed and defend for them. Can’t wait until the babies grow up and get their loving and forever homes so that she can learn how to be a true family companion 🖤🥰
Meet the crew— we went for God’s and goddesses names.
